Article Submission
Interested in writing articles to benefit the massage therapy industry? Check out our new content policy designed specifically to educate and enhance the therapist's and student's experience in purchasing AND using the BEST product for each's particular need. And when it comes time, hopefully they will make that purchase with Massage King. We can all benefit by working together, and helping each other.
INTRODUCTION
Massage King is committed to providing its customers with information that will help them professionally and will help them make the best decision about what products to buy. With that in mind, we are offering the opportunity for students, therapists, and instructors to get store credit or merchandise (at our option) in exchange for writing articles of genuine interest to the massage community. Your articles will be read by thousands of visitors each month on our massage-related websites.
AUDIENCE AND SCOPE
The idea is that a massage therapist with no knowledge about a particular topic (reiki, hot stone therapy, shiatsu, relaxation techniques, etc.) who reads this article should be able to begin to develop a decent, if cursory, understanding of the topic. Alternately, someone with a basic understanding of a particular topic or modality might gain specific knowledge about a specific detail. For instance, someone who knows and uses deep tissue therapy might read an article to gain a greater understanding of how to use deep tissue work to alleviate a certain type of pain or to learn new techniques for a certain area of the body. Some technical terms are acceptable and, for some topics, might be expected. Keep in mind that there will be a wide audience (from students to experienced therapists) reading this article. While some articles might be pretty basic in nature, keep it interesting. "Massage involves using your hands to relax another person" is WAY too simple.
LENGTH AND COMPENSATION
Articles should be at LEAST 500 words on a topic related to massage therapy. For 500 to 1000 words (of good content): Free back tool or BioFreeze roll-on, or $7 store credit. Both items would make an excellent gift or merchandise to sell to your clients. It will keep you in their minds when they see or use it. For 1500 words or greater (of good content) or three 500 word minimum articles: Free IN STOCK bolster or $19 store credit.
SOURCES and VOICE
Acceptable sources include, but are not limited to, school books, reference books, trade magazines, class notes, teacher's comments, notes from guest lectures and periodicals, just be sure to give provide references and give proper credit where credit is due. Also, first hand references (when used correctly) can be extremely valuable. When writing an academic sort of article, use the third person.(For instance, this document is written in the third person. The words "I" and/or "we" are seldom if ever used when writing in third person. You might write, "This technique is commonly used to alleviate pain caused by pressure on the knees, commonly caused by standing all day at work.) For articles where you discuss your experiences, you might use the first person. For instance, "My [clients / patients] prefer the half round bolster under their shoulder 2 to 1 over using a full round bolster." Of course, for every rule there is an exception. Use your own judgment. Have a friend review your work if that would make you feel more comfortable. Remember, your name will be on this document, and people all over the world will be reading it. Make yourself look good!
DISCLAIMERS
Limit $35 in credit and merchandise per month without prior consent. Credits do not need to be used during the month they are acquired, but we do ask that you try to use them within 12 months. Because we don't have any idea of what kind of reaction this offer will receive, we may make changes to the compensation or cancel the offer in the future. To ensure that the article you are writing will receive credit, please email your introductory paragraph to content@massageking.com. We will respond to your email with confirmation.
PLAGIARISM
This is bad. We do not want to be sued because you retyped a textbook or copied something from a website. Please list all references you used when creating your article. Using a lot of references is not bad; and it is prudent for us to ask. We request but do not require electronic submission (email or disk.) However, for every article you submit, please come by our office or send us a hard (printed) copy of your article with the following statement signed by the author: [date] _________________________ I certify that this document is an original work and is not copied from any source (except where noted.) The sources of information I used are listed in the attached copy of the article. I release the copyright for this document to LLFitness Inc., dba MassageKing.com and grant LL Fitness Inc. the right to publish, distribute, and alter this document as seen fit. I have received compensation for this work in the form of _____________________ and this compensation terminates my right to this property and my claims with LLFitness, inc. dba MassageKing.com for additional compensation.
