If you see a table listed twice then pay attention to the title, it may be that one listing is for the table only, and the other listing is for the table in a complete package deal. We wish we could say that choosing the perfect table is easy, but the truth is it can be overwhelming. There are so many tables from so many manufacturers. And each manufacturer tries to make a table to fill each need. From one manufacturer alone you get both the classic looks of a wooden and lighter weight from an aluminum massage table. Portable massage tables and stationary tables designed for salon and spa use. Manually adjustable tables and electrically adjustable tables. Different colors. Different vinyl types. Even different woods, some hard, some soft. Now, add to that the fact that some tables have basic features, and some have other premium features that you may not need today but you still feel that fear of missing out by not getting a feature that you could possible, maybe, need in the future. Wow... what should you do?

We think the best way to decide on a new massage table is to write down on paper which features you must have, and which ones you definitely will never need. We'll even help you out by saying some things you should consider are:

• How much weight will the table hold; is there a chance you'll need it to hold more than 500 lbs?
• Will you be carrying it around? If not, then don't worry about the weight of the table itself.
• Width of the table. For most people 30 inches wide is sufficient.
• Cushioning: at least 2.5 inches, multi-layer. Memory or closed cell foam is usually 2 to 3 pounds heavier so remember that if you plan on toting your table around.
• Wood: definitely Canadian Maple, Russian birch, oak. Definitely not an Asian hardwood for professional use.
• Warranty: minimum 2 years.
• Headrest: yes please! All adjustable ones work ok, though you can get some fancy ones for a premium price.
• Vinyl: for most people it's not that important because they will be covering it with a sheet anyway.
• Color: same as vinyl, see above.
• Should you get a table "package" that includes a headrest and carry case? YES! Almost always a good way to save a lot of money.

That's it... for most people those are the only things you need to consider. Of course your case may be different, but it's easy to get wrapped up in the small details that don't really matter unless they are "must haves" for your massage table, things like rounded corners, reiki endplates, and a shiatsu release.
