Can’t Seem to Relax? This Might Be the Reason Why

by | | 0 comment(s)

You know what it's like. Tightness in your chest. Bouncing your knee up and down when you sit. Constant buzzing in your head. These days, for many reasons, all of us are having trouble relaxing. As a result, people are experiencing degraded mental health, diminished performance at work or school and worsened physical health. Here are three reasons why you can't relax and what you can do to try and address these problems.

You Are Too Busy

Unfortunately, one of the common problems in this day and age is that people are simply too busy. There are many reasons for this, and an increase in work responsibilities and family duties is usually a big reason for an overloaded schedule. It can be hard to manage, but look into working with your employer and other family members to budget your time better, giving yourself a chance to breathe.

Your Energies Are Unbalanced

An energy imbalance means that you feel too sharp in some areas, but dull in others. You find yourself unable to sit still and desperate to move, but you can't focus when it's time to get a job done. This is normal, and, unfortunately, all too common. You can try a number of methods to find a balance again. This includes practicing relaxation techniques, yoga, and meditation.

World Events

There is no question that we live in an exceptionally stressful world. As a result, you may find that you are having a hard time letting go because of concern about ongoing world events. Indeed, there is ample evidence to suggest that ongoing world events are ratcheting up people's anxieties, making it difficult for many people to sleep or relax. This can be managed, but it's tough. Limit your exposure to outside news, and make sure to put down your smartphone when bedtime approaches. Stay away from social media as much as possible, and try to ensure that you only get your news from fact-based sources. This will help you steer clear from the most sensational of headlines and inaccurate news stories.

If you find yourself unable to relax, remember that you aren't a prisoner of your mind. You can and should take proactive steps to lower your stress and put your mind and body at ease. Take care of yourself, and do what you need to do to feel better. Your brain and body will thank you.
